The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has disbursed over N3.6b to the six Area Councils in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and other stakeholders, as their share of statutory allocation for the month of December 2020.
The FCT Minister of State, Ramatu Aliyu, who presided over the 149th Joint Area Councils AllocationCommittee, (JAAC), described the December 2020 allocation as a great improvement of over N1 billion above the previous allocations to the councils.
Out of the figure, the sum of over N2b was made available for distribution to the six area councils, while over N1.6 billion was made available to other stakeholders, bringing the total sum to N3,646,064,335.59 billion.
The figure also shows that Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), received N376.9 million, while Gwagwalada got about N375.5 million and Kuje about N307 million.
Similarly, Bwari Area Council received about N307 million, Abaji got almost N330 million and Kwali received over N311 million.
Furthermore, distribution to other stakeholders include, Primary School Teachers which gulped about N1.3 billion, 15 percent Pension Funds took about N226.5 million, One Percent Training Fund gulped N36.5 million and 10 Percent Employer Pension Contribution gulped almost N108 million.
While commending the improved allocation to the area councils, the minister harps on the need to embark on the verification of area councils’ staff.
She stressed that the verification exercise would not be left in the hands of council staff.

Aliyu, maintained that the Independent Corrupt Practices, and other Related Offences (ICPC), Office of the Auditor General, and other relevant agencies would be involved in conducting the verification exercise.
