This is contained in a statement issued by the corporation this Friday. It however indicates that its Technical Team would continue with other track stabilization works including Ballasting, Temping, Fastening of specific accessories and Welding.
No specific date is given for resumption of rail operations on the corridor but the NRC insists that passengers would be required to provide their National Identification Number before purchase of travel tickets, when activities resume on the corridor.

The NRC says the measure is aimed at improving the profiling as well as safety of passengers on board.

The Corporation states that it is committed to the safety of all Passengers and Staff, even those on board the ill-fated Ak9 train service that was attacked by terrorists in March and will continue to collaborate with security agencies to ensure all persons being held are rescued unhurt and reunited with their families. It also continues to pray for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident and prays that God grants the families of those who lost loved ones, the fortitude to bear the irreparable losses, not forgetting the full recovery of those injured.
