Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Betta Edu has disclosed plans of the Nigerian government to construct buffer dams to control flooding around communities near the Ogun River.
The Minister who paid a working visit to Ogun State on Saturday, said the buffer Dams will address the perennial flooding in the area, and advised against indiscriminate dumping of refuse on the drainage.
The minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation’s working visit to Ogun State according to her is to give relief materials to victims affected by flooding in Lagos and Ogun State.

The minister also used the opportunity to announce the government’s policy on alleviating poverty in Nigeria.
The humanitarian affairs minister took time out to visit affected flood communities in the isheri area, the Adire market in Itoku Abeokuta, including a visit to NASFAT where some of the Flood Victims are currently housed.
