The federal government, through the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project(HYPREP) has provided five ambulances to Rivers State government owned health facilities to improve emergency response.
The HYPREP Project Coordinator, Prof Zabbey Nenibarini during the handover says the intervention will enhance emergency response, patients’ referrals and access to life-saving care across Ogoni Communities.
The provision of state of the art five ambulances to Rivers state government owned health facilities in Ogoni is to improve response to medical emergencies, which is in line with the recommendations of the United Nations Environmental Programme UNEP report
The HYPREP project coordinator prof Zabbey Nenibarini noted that the five ambulances underscores the health challenges alongside environmental remediation in Ogoniland
He also added that it would help strengthen health care systems and enhance emergency response
The Rivers state Commissioner for health Adaeze Oreh while receiving the ambulances on behalf of the state commended HYPREP for prioritizing human health and well-being! Adding that the ambulances will help timely transfer of patients.
The beneficiaries of the facilities are Bori Zonal Hospital, Terabor General Hospital Bodo General Hospital, and Spite primary health care centres.
