Repair works on the Airport flyover, engulfed by fire early this year will commence at the end of the month.

The bridge which runs inward Toyota Bus Stop on the Apapa-Oshodi-Ojota-Oworonsoki Expressway was engulfed by fire on January 7 when a tanker laden with diesel bursted into flames and damaged parts of the bridge which forced the authorities to close traffic, causing untold hardship on motorists and commuters plying the axis.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Housing, Babangida Husseini, while inspecting the bridge in Lagos Wednesday cautioned members of the public against damage of public infrastructure expecially by tanker drivers. He explained that the resultant effect puts additional cost on the government.

He said the Federal government would look into case of some residents in the area encroaching on the right of way cleared by the state taskforce weeks ago.

Husseini had inspected the Lagos- Ibadan highway where he said the government will in no distance time compensate residents whose property were demolished to give way for the flyover along the Lagos Ibadan expressway.

The federal government delegation who were impressed with the level of work done on the Lagos- Ibadan expressway however assured that the 2022 date of completion remains sacrosanct.
