Federal Government to tackle gully sites in Gombe State

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to resolve the challenges of gully sites in Gombe state.

The Federal Government through its agency Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management NEWMAP said apart from resolving the myriad of gully sites in the state, it will create earth dams that would accommodate flood waters from eroded area.

National Project Coordinator of the agency Salihu Dahiru disclosed this while on a tour of affected gully sites in the state also acknowledged the efforts of the state government in its counterpart funding and support to tackling gully erosion in the state.

There are four gully sites in the states with the biggest spanning 2.7 kilometers affecting the State university, Mallam Inna and kagarawa communities.
