Commercialisation of research findings has been identified as one of the ways to reduce importation and increase job opportunities in Nigeria so as to cushion the increasing spate of unemployment in the country.
This was the submission of the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Ogbonnaya Onu who said the ministry is planning to establish six research and innovative centres across the six geopolitical zones.
The minister disclosed this during a working visit to Kano state.

While meeting with research officers and lecturers at Bayero University, the minister said their aim is to improve Nigeria’s global competitiveness as kano will serve as the headquarter of the technology and innovation centre in the North-west zone
The host university express their readiness to partner with the ministry in establishing the technology and innovation centre.
