Federal Government has approved the establishment of an Agricultural Equipment and Machinery Development Institute for the assembly of farm implements and machines to boost mechanized farming.
The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI, is facilitating the establishment of the institute.
Six agricultural equipment and machinery development institutes are to be established across the six geopolitical zones of the country.
Nasarawa is selected among the states for the project and the Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, Prof Mohammed Haruna conveyed President Muhammadu Buhari’s approval for the project to Governor Abdullahi Sule

He solicited the support of the state government towards the establishment of the institute which he said will boost local content and improve agricultural production.
In addition to food production, the institute is expected to increase outgrowers in food production thereby creating jobs, the gains which Nasarawa State Government said will have multiplying effect on the economy.
The project will be sited in Lafia the state capital, to serve big commercial agricultural enterprises
