FG Arraigns 9 Suspected Terrorist in Court Over Yelwata Massacre

The Federal Government has arraigned Nine suspects accused of orchestrating the 2025 deadly attacks in Yelwata, Benue State at a Federal High Court, Abuja.

The prosection team led by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Lateef Fagbemi presented a 57 count amended charge bothering on terrorism related offenses at the court.

The suspects are;
ADO LAWAL MOHAMMED, ADO MOHAMMED SAIDU, HARUNA ABDULAHI, YAKUBU ADAMU, MOHAMMED MUSA, ABUBAKAR ADAMU, SHUAIBU IBRAHIM, SALEH MOHAMMED and BAKO JIBRIN.

According to Fagbemi, there are 10 suspects to be arraigned in court but pleaded that the name of one of the suspect be struck out until the appropriate time for his arraignment.

According to the charge sheet, some of the suspects are still at large.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the 57 count charge.

After taking their plea, the prosecutor Fagbemi pleaded that the court grant an accelerated hearing due to the nature of the case, while praying the court that the defendants be remanded in Kuje correctional facility during trial.

The defense lawyer however, moved an oral application for bail, but the court noted that the application ought to be filed.

After listening to both parties in the suit, Justice Joyce Abdumalik ordered that the defendants be remanded at Kuje correctional center while the matter has been adjourned to 26th and 27th for trial.
