The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo has officially flagged off construction work on the proposed Abia Airport, a project jointly financed by the Abia State and the federal government.
During the ground breaking ceremony on Tuesday, Keyamo said the airport will be completed in record time to drive the economy of Abia State and South East in general.
The airport project is intended to boost the transport and economic life of Abia State and its environs by enhancing Air Transport connectivity and providing job opportunities to Residents of the state.
Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo said during the ground breaking ceremony that the Abia Airport will open up rapid industrialization of the south east region.
The Abia Airport sitting on over 1300 hectares of land is located at Nsulu in Isiala Ngwa local government area and it is expected to welcome its inaugural flight in 36 months time.
