FG completes 83 internal roads in federal tertiary institutions across Nigeria

The Federal Government, FG, says it has successfully intervened and completed a total number of 83 internal road projects in various Federal Tertiary institutions across the country.

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola represented by the Federal Controller of Works, Kwara State, Lasisi Rafiu disclosed this during the handing and taking over of internal roads at the main campus of the University of Ilorin the Kwara State capital.

Speaking at the handing over of a 2.75 kilometer (asphalt overlay) internal road constructed by the federal government in the University of Ilorin, the minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola represented by the Federal Controller of Works, Kwara State, Lasisi Rafiu said the ministry has intervened in 64 internal road projects in various federal tertiary institutions and handed over a total of 46 as at March, 2022 describing the project as an investment in education sector.

He added that the federal ministry of works and housing currently has another 18 ready to be handed over, while attending to another 19 roads in similar institutions across the country making a total of 83

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Egbewole who was represented by Director, Academic Planning, Professor Gideon Arosanyin, maintained that the road is pivotal to the movement of staff and students between the main campus and the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital through the College of Health Sciences.

During the construction, 85 people were employed, contributing to the job creation initiatives of the federal government and it is hoped that the school will ensure the roads are used properly.
