The Federal Government has dismissed viral online reports alleging the use of substandard materials in the ongoing expansion of the Ore–Ondo–Akure highway, insisting that the construction strictly adheres to approved international standards.
Minister of Works, Dave Umahi,made the clarification during an inspection of the project Site .
The clarification follow concerns raised in a viral video alleging that wire mesh was being used instead of heavier iron rods in some sections of the 86.43-kilometre project.
In his response to the claims, the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, during an inspection visit to the project site, reaffirmed the structural integrity of the pavement.

Represented by the Federal Controller of Works in Ondo State, Hussein Olajide, the minister said the project fully aligns with the Federal Government’s commitment to delivering durable, safe, and cost-effective road infrastructure across the country.
Olajide, who expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work, said plans are ongoing to meet the four year duration completion timeline.
According to the Ministry of Works, the Ore–Ondo–Akure highway, a single-carriage road, is designed to last over 50 years upon completion.
