Minister of State for health, Tunji Alausa has reaffirmed the determination of the Nigerian government to decentralize and democratize healthcare to make it more accessible to even the remote communities in the country.

The minister gave the assurance in Ikole Ekiti while signing the memorandum of understanding for the conversion of the state’s specialist hospital, Ikole Ekiti to federal medical center.

Dignatories from all walks of life gathered in Ikole Ekiti as the Federal Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ekiti State Government to convert and upgrade the Ikole Ekiti Specialist hospital into a Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in a bid to improve health care service delivery across the country.

Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Tunji Alausa while signing the MoU said the document is a testament to President Tinubu’s led-federal government’s commitment to ensuring that Nigerians, regardless of their location have access to quality and comprehensive healthcare.

In his remarks, Ekiti state Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, who expressed his deepest gratitude to the President for approving the Federal Medical Centre in Ekiti, emphasized that delivering quality healthcare to the people has always been a top priority of his administration which was what led to the state’s decision to sign the MoU with the Federal Ministry of Health.

The Governor explained that the Federal Tertiary Hospital in Ikole-Ekiti represents hope for patients battling illnesses beyond the capacity of secondary health care centres , brings comfort for families in distress, and increases the possibility of a healthier future for citizens within the state.
