The Nigerian government has inaugurated a Ministerial Power Sector Working Group, aimed at enhancing supervision, monitoring, and oversight control in the power sector.
The inauguration took place in Abuja, with directors and agencies under the ministry’s supervision signing performance contracts to ensure proper tracking and supervision of projects.
The working group comprises of agencies including the Transmission Company of Nigeria(TCN), Rural Electrification Agency(REA), Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission( NERC) Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading(NBET), Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency( NEMZA), National Power Training Institute of Nigeria( NAPTIN) and the Nigeria Electricity Liability Management Ltd(NELMCO).

It will serve as a platform for information sharing, dissemination, and sector-wide communication.
The Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu who inaugurated the group emphasized the importance of synergy, capacity optimization, and training, urging the working group to work hard to achieve set targets.
Performance contracts were signed by CEOs and the Permanent Secretary on behalf of the directors, committing to deliver on targets.
The Minister signed a performance contract with the President in November 2023, outlining expectations for the power sector.
