The Federal Government, the Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, and the National Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, have reached some resolutions over lingering issues after a meeting held on Monday, August 7, 2023 at the instance of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Daju Kachollon.
Briefing newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, August 8, on the outcome of the meeting, the Permanent Secretary said the meeting provided update on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding, MOU signed with NARD on May 19, 2023, following the May 17, 2023 strike over lingering issues.
Daju Kachollon said issues raised and being implemented include; non-payment of salaries by Abia State government, domestication of the reviewed medical residency training fund for year 2023 and the bill on bonding of medical doctors for five years before licence is issued, sponsored by Honourable Ganiyu Johnson.

Others are circular on one-on-one replacement of exiting doctors, immediate payment of 2023 medical residency training, skipping arrears, NARD Ultimatum, hazard allowance and payment of Consolidated medical salary Structure, COMESS.
NARD has threatened to ground the country in a nationwide protest on Wednesday, August 9.
