The meeting between organised labour and representatives of the Federal Government, FG, over the removal of fuel subsidies has ended in a deadlock.

Arising from the meeting held at the State House Abuja, representatives of both parties told state house correspondents that talks are still ongoing on the matter, and they are yet to reach an agreement.

The labour union is led by the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Joe Ajaero and his Trade Union Congress, TUC, counterpart, Festus Osifo.

In attendance were the former President of the NLC and former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, the State House Permanent Secretary, Tijjani Umar, the Head of Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Group Chief Executive Officer, of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, NNPCL, Mele Kyari among others.

The meeting is coming on the heels of the resurfacing queues at petrol stations, following the announcement of the removal of subsidies, and a hike in pump prices.

The announcement by President Bola Tinubu, during his inauguration speech, was condemned by
the organised labour.
