FG partners Cross River to Generate more revenues in Solid Minerals

The Federal Government says it will partner Cross River State in a bid to properly aggregate the revenue drive from the over 30 mineral deposits to enable Government harness income that will help in financing infrastructures and other projects in the State.

Federal Commissioner, Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Eyo-Nsa Whiley, said Cross River and Nigeria stand to benefit from the new ideas.

Speaking at a one-day seminar on the National Monitoring Exercise of Royalty Collections and the Activities of Miners in the Solid Mineral Sector,in Calabar, Whiley, stressed that the seminar was ‘economically important for the state

He said Government is now interested more than ever, on how miners utilize the natural resources, payment of royalties to government as well as their corporate social responsibility for the mining host communities.

On his part, Cross River State Deputy Governor, Professor. Ivara Esu, who spoke along with the State Commissioner for Solid Mineral, call for more revenue accruable to the state in the new partnership arrangement.

The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission organized the seminar in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development and Cross River State Government believing that exploiting the mining sector will increase the nation’s internally generated revenue.
