The Federal Government says it will use the seven billion Naira reserved to secure unity schools across the country to beef up security and install other required equipment to protect students and facilities.
Speaking at the Peace Corps of Nigeria’s “peace walk” against incessant invasion and kidnapping of students educational institutions in Abuja, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha, who spoke through the Director, Nigeria National Volunteers Services, Olushola Dada, said the government is working with host communities of all unity schools to stop the abduction of students in the country.

The National Commandant Peace Corps of Nigeria, Dickson Akoh, disclosed that over 1,179 students have been kidnapped in the past seven years, calling on the private sector and other well-meaning Nigerians to join the Federal Government in securing educational Institutions.
The peace walk organised by the Peace Corps of Nigeria, the African Union of Economic, Social and Cultural Council, the National Association of Voluntary Uniform Organisations, and the Coalition of Nigerian Youths on Security Affairs is aimed at drawing national consciousness of both state and non-actors to the menace.
