Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, says the administration of President Bola Tinubu, is eager to reverse the poverty level and end hunger, particularly in North-East Nigeria.
She was speaking during her first official visit to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital where she also met with Governor Babagana Zulum.

The Minister said she intends to revisit and clean up the controversial National Social Register, and bring in those who deserve to be on it. Professor Zulum assured her of support and emphasised on a shift of focus, from the immediate, to the long term.
At the Shuwari IDPs Camp, the Minister inspected the accommodation provided by the non-governmental organisations.
She also visited the Bulumkutu Interim Care Centre, housing the rescued Chibok school girls, children, as well as some repentant Boko Haram insurgents, where she distributed food items.
