The Federal Government has provided facilities to conduct Covid-19 tests for civil servants in Abuja from 10am to 2pm.

It is part of efrorts to curtail the spread of the disease.

A circular signed by the Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office of the Head of Service of the Federation, Evelyn Ngige, directed all permanent secretaries to notify civil servants, of the availability of the testing facility, to enable members of staff who experience COVID-19 related symptoms and those wishing to get tested, to take advantage of the opportunity.

Mrs Ngige said the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has also updated the Guidelines on the Control of Coronavirus Disease “Service-Wide,” to address emerging issues in the control of the disease in the work environment.

She said the Guidelines can be accessed on the website of the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.

While the President of the Nigeria Civil Service Union, Amaechi Lawrence commends the Federal Government, the President of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, Bala Kaigama criticises the government for coming too late with the testing centre and demands that any test kits which will not deliver results in hours or days will be counter productive.
