Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has commended the Federal Government for extending palliatives to sixty-four thousand, six hundred and thirteen households in Edo state to cushion the effect of the coronavirus pandemic on the vulnerable members of the society.

The Governor expressed his appreciation when he received the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, Air Vice Marshal Muhammadu Muhammed, rtd, in Benin City to flag off the Emergency Agricultural Intervention Funds Programme for Persons Affected by the 2018 Flood.

The NEMA DG Air Vice Marshal, Muhammed, rtd, was in Edo State on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari to present assorted grains from the National Food Reserve approved as palliative for vulnerable persons affected by the impact of the restriction of movement to curtail the spread of COVID-19.

Governor Obaseki says NEMA has been responsive to Edo State over the years and assured that the palliatives will get to those they were intended for.

The fertiliser distribution is the final phase of the Federal Government assistance to the affected farmers in the State, to enable them recover from losses suffered and also to empower them.
