The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) has dismissed claims that the Federal Government has abandoned Remitta as the approved payment gateway.
Instead, the OAGF clarified that Remitta will be integrated into the newly developed Treasury Management and Revenue Assurance System (TMRAS) alongside other licensed Payment Solution Service Providers (PSSPs). The move, according to the office, is aimed at liberalizing the government’s revenue collection process and improving efficiency.
The Treasury Management and Revenue Assurance System (TMRAS), which goes live on March 4, 2025, was developed following the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun.
The OAGF explained that the system is designed to streamline revenue collections, ensure transparency, and enhance budget performance across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), as well as Federal Government-Owned Enterprises (FGOEs).

While affirming Remitta as a secure payment channel, the OAGF noted that the new system will accommodate other payment service providers licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
This, the office stated, will allow for a more inclusive and competitive payment framework while ensuring the efficiency and security of government revenue collection.
For now, Remitta remains the sole approved gateway for payments to the Federal Government for at least two months, after which other platforms will be integrated.
The OAGF urged revenue payers and the general public to continue using Remitta for payments while the transition is underway. For further information, the public is advised to visit the official government treasury website
