The Federal Government says it will work with the state and local governments, to get accurate and current data for national development and economic plans across the country.
Minister of State Budget and National Planning, Clem Agba, made this known in Calabar, at the Conference of the Nigerian Statistical Association.

According to the Minister, current and critical data are needed for effective information dissemination, planning, and implementation of economic growths, that will stimulate National Development.
He assured that the Ministry of Budget and National Planning will work with critical stakeholders including state and local Governments in realising the set objectives
On their part, Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State and the Statistician-General of the Federation, Simon Harry, raised concern on the current economic data in the country, which according to Ayade, raises questions on the state of unemployment rate data in Nigeria.
The theme of the conference ‘Climate Change and Socio-Economic Consequences Statistics’ according to the speakers, will best serve Nigeria’s developmental index if properly looked into.
