The federal government is probing the 2022 failed fifteen billion electronic national social insurance trust fund, e-NSITF project, initiated by the former management
The NSITF an agency in the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, mandated to collect a one percent deduction from workers’ salaries, which is used to compensate all insured worker in case of injury, disease, disability or death arising out of, or in the course of employment.
By 2023, in efforts to continue the digitalisation of NSITF operations, the federal government approved phase two of the e-NSITF, which will enable concessionaires to upgrade the infrastructure for N15 billion.
The NSITF Managing Director, Oluwaseun Faleye, speaking further on the development at a media Parley with labour correspondents in Abuja, said to ensure accountability, the new management has brought in a consulting firm, KPMG to assess the contractor’s performance against the project’s original scope.
The NSITF management is also threatening to take legal action against organisations who are endangering the lives of employees by not meeting government’s safety and health regulations at workplaces.
It says it is also awaiting the nod from the National Assembly to further empower it to seal defaulting offices
The NSITF used the media parley to promote an advocacy and awareness campaign instrument.
