The Federal Government has approved a ten-billion-naira housing loan scheme to boost home ownership among civil servants.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, made the announcement in Abuja, describing it as part of a broader package of increased allowances and welfare benefits.
She added that the new measures are designed to ensure civil servants retire with dignity and do not leave service empty-handed.
At the heart of the reforms is a new Exit Benefit Scheme, guaranteeing one hundred percent of a retiring civil servant’s total annual emoluments, effective January 1st, 2026.
The government has also fully operationalised the Employee Compensation Scheme to support workers affected by job-related injuries, disabilities, or death.

Another key reform is the approval of 100 percent Duty Tour Allowance for civil servants attending approved training programmes, regardless of whether travel is involved or not.
That’s not all, a major highlight is the ten-billion-naira housing loan scheme aimed at improving access to home ownership for civil servants.
With the announcement coming ahead of Workers’ Day on May 1, the Head of Service says the move underscores the government’s commitment to rewarding the contributions of public workers through concrete action.
The new measures are expected to significantly improve the welfare and morale of civil servants, as the government signals a renewed commitment to rewarding service, strengthening capacity, and ensuring a more secure and dignified retirement for public workers.
