As part of efforts to boost livestock development in Benue State, the Federal Government has disclosed plans to clear 500 hecteres of land in the Livestock Investigation and Breeding Centre, Raav, in Gwer East Local Government Area of the State for ranching and dairy production.
The Minister of Livestock Development Idi Maiha, disclosed this during an inspection visit to some livestock breeding centres in the State.
The livestock investigation and breeding centre in Raav, Gwer East local council of the State sits on over 2,400 hectares of land which according to the Minister of Livestock Development is grossly underutilized with facilitates also in a terrible state.

Besides plans to overhaul the centre, it will also collaborate with the Joseph Sawuan Tarka University previously known as the University of Agriculture in Makurdi the State capital to enhance research on livestock production.
Earlier the Minister visited the swine crop improvement project in Yandev, Gboko local government area and the international cattle Market in Makurdi the state capital.
With the visit comes hope of more Federal Government intervention in the area for livestock development in the State.
