The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammed Idris, has charged youths in Nigeria to avail themselves of the ongoing national reforms by President Bola Tinubu to better their future.
Idris stated this while delivering the 2026 Convocation Lecture at the 34th Convocation Ceremony of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State, titled “Youth and Nation Building: Navigating Opportunities in an Era of National Reforms.”
Speaking to the graduating students, the Minister described Nigeria as a youthful nation with immense potential, noting that the country’s future largely depends on how its young population is educated, skilled, led and engaged.
He noted that the Federal government, through the various national reforms, is supporting youths in education and digital skills to make Nigeria an unstoppable global force.
Apart from the removal of petrol subsidy, foreign exchange unification and the new tax laws, Idris added that the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which has supported hundreds of thousands of students, is evidence that the Renewed Hope Agenda is yielding real and measurable impact.
The Minister encouraged the graduates to see themselves as builders of the nation, urging them to engage actively with opportunities, develop their skills, embrace lifelong learning and consider public service as a platform for national contribution.
The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Professor Faruk Kuta, described the title of the lecture as apt considering the state of the nation.
The convocation lecture was titled “Youth and Nation Building: Navigating Opportunities in an Era of National Reforms.
