The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, says it has started working on protocols for international flights ahead of the planned resumption of their operations in the coming weeks.

Director-General of the NCAA, Nuhu Musa, speaking during a Zoom webinar meeting with key aviation industry players, said international flights operation will also commence as soon as all plans are concluded.

For domestic flight operations, Musa said Airlines are 94.44% prepared; Airports are 87 %; Ground Handlers 75%; Aviation Security 75%; while Air Traffic Organisations and Approved Maintenance Organisations are both above average.

NCAA urges Nigerians to ensure that the processes in which a lot of efforts were put into developing are put into practice as the Authority will do its best to control the crowds at the terminals especially the Lagos Airport, and urged airlines to provide their schedules to the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA to avoid delays in landing.

Also speaking, the Managing Director, Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Rabiu Yadudu, notes that efforts are been made to ensure lounges have few numbers of awaiting passengers in order to maintain 100% capacity in the terminal.

NAMA Managing Director, Fola Akinkuotu lamented that the Agency wrote to all airlines to submit possible schedule but only Azman, Arik and Max Air responded, noting that the low response makes it difficult to plan on flight sequencing and frequency..
