The world football governing body, FIFA has imposed a fine of $150,000 on Nigeria for the disturbances by fans after the 2022 World Cup qualifier against Ghana at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja on February 25.
FIFA however ruled that Nigeria’s Super Eagles can still host their international football matches at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
Consequently, the Confederation of African Football, CAF has approved the stadium as venue for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON qualifier between Nigeria and Sierra Leone on June 9.
In a letter addressed to the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF dated May 1, 2022, the approval is however with the condition that the match will be played behind closed doors.
It is not immediately clear whether Nigeria must pay the $150,000 fine before the Super Eagles will be allowed to play at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium
