River Plate striker and Nigeria’s Flying Eagles team invitee, Jonathan Spiff Asuzu has expressed deep regret over his inability to join the Nigerian squad for the FIFA U-20 World Cup scheduled to hold in Chile from September 27 to October 19.

At a press briefing today, Asuzu, who plays for River Plate in Argentina, revealed that an expired Nigerian passport prevented him from reporting to camp, despite efforts to resolve the issue.

The 19-year-old described the situation as heartbreaking, but pledged his full support for the team.

He thanked the Federal Government and the NFF for the opportunity, describing it as a dream come true.

The Flying Eagles will begin their campaign in group F on September 29 against Norway at the Estadio Fiscal Talca before facing Saudi Arabia four days later and wrap their group stage against Colombia at the same venue.
