Six hundred and one repentant ex-Boko Haram combatants comprising 586 Nigerians and 14 foreigners were released to their host communities after undergoing six months deradicalization, rehabilitation, and reintegration programme at the Operation Safe Corridor camp in Malam Sidi Gombe.
The ceremony, which was the climax of the process which started last year, had a total of 606 ex-combatants admitted into the camp with three dead, one transferred to a psychiatric hospital, and one withdrawn.
This is the picture officials of the Operation Safe Corridor would want you to see; a picture of the war against insurgency gaining momentum using soft power.
This time 601 repentant clients are reformed and ready to become productive members of the society.
It had been a torrid six months for the officials of the DRR camp in changing the orientation of the ex-combatants.

To many sceptics, the release of the individuals would raise alarm, however, there should be room for more advocacy.
