Three days after being registered as a member of the APC, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has officially been received into the party, alongside several former members of the PDP.
In what was tagged a unity meeting, supporters believe it marks a new dawn of political alignment in the state
It was the first stakeholders meeting of the All Progressives Congress APC and members of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP who defected along with the governor from the Peoples Democratic Party
Governor Fintiri called for unity, urging both old and new entrants to work together in strengthening the party’s structure across the state.
The governor assured supporters that the merger signifies a total alignment of structures, declaring that the PDP in the state has effectively fused with the APC to advance development objectives and to ensure the return of President Bola Ahmed Tinibu in 2027
Earlier, the National Vice Chairman of the APC Northeast Zone, Mustapha Salihu, formally welcomed the governor and his supporters into the party.
The Adamawa State APC Chairman, Idris Shuaibu, and the Chairman of the PDP Hamza Madagali who defected to the APC with the Governor also described the development as a milestone that will consolidate the party’s dominance in the state.
Fintiri’s formal move to the APC is one of several high profile moves that has depleted the number of Governors of the PDP from 12 to just 3 since the 2023 general elections
