Six hundred and twenty houses have been completely destroyed by fire at the Customs House IDP Camp on the outskirts of the Maiduguri Metropolis.
A child lost his life, while two old women were also said to have sustained injuries during the inferno.
AIT.live gathered that the fire started around 8:30 in the morning and consumed parts of the camp.
It was said to have been put out by a combined effort of the IDPs, security agents and officials of the federal and state fire service.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
The Customs House IDP Camp is said to have a total of 14,250 displaced persons from three local government areas of Dikwa, Mafa and Bama.
