The first-batch of 204 students on Ebonyi State Government sponsored fully funded foreign scholarships have traveled to different universities outside Nigeria.

The State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, who flagged-off the 2024/2025 scholarship programme at the Willberforce Chuba Okadigdo International Airport, underscored the initiative as one of the state government’s deliberate efforts in addressing human capital development and surmountable challenges facing the society.

He said the scholarship programme is not just an investment in education but the future of Ebonyi State and Nigeria.

Governor Nwifuru charged the scholars to build networks and see the opportunity as a testament to their individual hardwork and brilliancy.

Ezekiel Nkwede and Emmanuel Nwachukwu who are among the beneficiaries of the foreign scholarship, expressed optimism that the knowledge they will gain will help them to impact on the society and development of Ebonyi State.

Governor Francis Nwifuru later supervised the boarding of the 204 foreign scholars as they began their journey overseas.
