The National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA), has predicted that no fewer than nine local government areas in Bauchi State are likely to be affected by this year’s flood.
The Head of Operations at NEMA’s Gombe Office, Ummunah Ahmed, said this during a community forum workshop on the Impact of Improper Waste Management and Flood Preparedness, held in Bauchi
Ahmed said among the nine local government areas, Itas Gadau and Toro were listed as high-risk areas, while the remaining seven, including Jama’are, Ganjuwa ,Shira, Zaki, Warji, and Katagum, were listed as moderate-risk areas.
He advised those living in the Riverine areas to move to safer places.
Some of the workshop participants said the significance of such a forum cannot be overemphasised and promised to put what they have learned to use in their respective communities.
