No fewer than 24 people have been killed as flood and windstorm destroy about 16, 625 houses in Katsina State, North-West Nigeria.
This is coming as other states of the federation are battling with this year’s flood that has submerged houses, communities and farmlands.

Katsina State Emergency Management Agency, KASEMA, in a statement by its spokesperson, Umar Muhammad said the disasters were recorded in all the 34 Local Government Areas of the state during the current rainy season.
According to the statement, several other persons sustained various degrees of injury as a result of the natural disasters.
Muhammed further added that so far, 16,625 houses have been damaged by the disasters while 1,620 farmlands were also submerged in Kafur, Danja and Ingawa Local Government Areas which were accompanied by ice pellets.
He also said that property and farm produce worth millions of Naira were destroyed as a result of the disasters.
The SEMA spokesperson added that, the agency had already assessed the affected houses and farmlands in order to assist the victims with the State Government to soon start the distribution of relief materials to the victims.
