The Parish Priest of Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church, Gulu, in Lapai local government area of Niger State, Reverend Father James Omeh has been killed in a flood incident following a downpour.
Spokesman of the State Police Command, Wasi’u Abiodun, who confirmed the incident in a statement, added that the priest died alongside a female passenger named Charity John as they were heading to Gulu village in a white Toyota Hilux vehicle,.
Abiodun said the lifeless bodies of the victims had been recovered and handed over to the church for burial.
According to the police statement, the victims were reportedly swept by flood into a stream where they got drowned around 1 pm yesterday.

Abiodun added that following the receipt of the information, police operatives attached to Lapai Division moved to the scene and recovered the dead bodies with the help of the community members while the vehicle was towed out of the stream.
