No fewer than six persons have been declared missing while over 400 households have been submerged with about 700 farmlands destroyed in a flood disaster in Obubra Local Government Area of Cross River State, South-South Nigeria.
The flood which followed a downpour of about five straight days affected 15 riverine communities in the local government and rendered hundreds of the residents homeless. The flood also destroyed rice, yam and cassava farms, economic trees, household items and schools worth millions of Naira.

In a statement issued by Director-General of Cross River State Emergency Management Agency, Princewill Ayim, called on the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA and other public spirited individuals to support with food and non-food relief items for the affected communities. Some of the affected communities include Ogurude, Osopong, Okimbogha Ogamana, Ofonekom, Idoru among others.
The State Emergency Management Agency assured that all hindrances to vehicular movements caused by the downpour have been evacuated including removal of all fallen trees.
