Tragedy struck on Saturday morning in Minna, the Niger State capital as flood caused by downpour swept away a mother and her grown-up daughter during mining activities at an illegal site.
According to a source, the incident occurred when the woman and her daughter went out together to accomplish their mining mission at a mining site around the bypass where the PDP Secretariat is located at Maitumbi.
It was gathered that the grown-up daughter began to drown due to the intensity of the rain, prompting her mother to give her a helping hand but unfortunately, they were both swept away by the downpour.
The victims are said to be residing at Sayako, Maitumbi in Chanchaga Local Government Area of the state.
At the time of filing this report, their whereabouts are still unknown as search and rescue activities have been launched.
