President Muhammadu Buhari has directed all federal agencies dealing with rescue and disaster management to offer all needed assistance to Bayelsa State to address the flooding challenges in the State.
The President also directed all concerned to work towards the restoration of normalcy to other affected states of the federation.
In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on media and publicity Garba Shehu, the President expressed sadness at the devastation caused by floods in Bayelsa State.

He extended the nation’s condolences to the families of the victims and all those affected by the natural disaster.
According to reports released by the State Government, 700,000 persons have been displaced in about 300 communities and villages in five of the State’s eight local government areas were submerged in water due to heavy rain
The President said building on water channels, disregard for early warning by the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, and climate change are mainly responsible for the floods that have so far hit 33 of the nation’s 36 states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory
