Flooding: Nigeria Navy calls for collaborative efforts to avert disaster in Kogi

The Commander Nigeria Navy Ship, NNS Lugard, Commodore Tamuno Senibo has called for collaborative efforts to forestall the adverse effects of an impending flood in Kogi State and ensure proper disaster management.

Kogi is among the states listed by NIMET as those likely to witness flooding in 2024, having experienced a devastating flooding in 2012 and 2022.

Commodore Senibo made the call at a stakeholders forum held in lokoja, the state capital.

He said the Navy under the auspices of operation Delta Sanity remains committed to perfecting synergy among stakeholders on flood disaster management.

The Commander expressed the hope that the stakeholders meeting will come up with a plan to mitigate the effect of the flood and identify security arrangements on the water ways.

Some of the participants at the meeting stressed the need to improve and develop the inland water ways for safe transportation.

The meeting was organized by the maritime operatives of the Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS Lugard Banda in Kogi State.
