The federal government says it is willing to collaborate with young farmers through programmes that would provide subsidies and loans to help them improve the quality of their produce for export.
Minister of agriculture Mohammed Abubakar said this in Abuja at the opening of a two-day conference tagged “Rethinking Paradigm shift in Agriculture and initiatives to enhance food security”.
It was a gathering of stakeholders in the agriculture sector. The aim…to rethink paradigm shift and find ways to enhance food security in Nigeria.
Nigeria’s agriculture policy seeks to attain food security, increase production and productivity, generate employment and expand export. Speakers at this event believe this can be achieved with appropriate legislative support, agric finance and technology transfer.
Panelists at the two- day forum also harped on the need to develop climate resilient strategies to address the impact of climate change as the country moves away from subsistence farming to Agri-business.
The event was organized by Women Enterprise Alliance.
