Former Agriculture and Water Resources Minister, Dr Abba Sayyadi Ruma has died at the age of 59.
According to information from family members, he died at a London hospital this Wednesday after a protracted battle with diabetes.

He served under the late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua, between 2007 and 2010 and was also appointed Minister of State in the Federal Ministry of Education in 2005 under Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, and in 2007 briefly became Federal Minister of Education when Ezekwesili left to take up a world bank job.
Ruma was Chairman of the Governing Council of the International Fund for Agricultural Development, with Headquarters in Rome, Italy, and is a Partner Minister of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO.
According to information from family members, he died at a London hospital this Wednesday after a protracted battle with diabetes.
His body will be flown back to Nigeria and buried on Friday in Abuja according to Islamic rites.
He is survived by 2 wives and 9 children.
