A former managing director of Bank PHB, Francis Atuche has been sentenced to six years in prison over corruption charges to the tune of 25.7 billion Naira proffered against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in 2011.
Presiding Justice Lateefa Okunnu of the Lagos High Court while delivering her judgement which found Atuche guilty of 22 of the 27 counts of conspiracy and stealing.

Sentenced along with the former managing director is one Ugo Anyanwu, a former chief financial officer at the bank
In Wednesday’s judgment, Justice Okunnu, however, freed Francis Atuche’s wife, standing trial alongside her husband
Francis Atuche and Ugo Anyanwu have both entered pleas for mercy from the court.
