Former House of Reps Member Nicholas Ukachukwu Grabs Anambra APC Governorship Primary Ticket

At the early hours of Sunday, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC Governorship Primary Election Committee for Anambra State, Governor Bassey Ewa of Cross River State declared Nicholas Ukachukwu the flag bearer of the Party.

The primary election which initially had seven aspirants witnessed dramatic moments as three of the contenders withdrew from the contest in protest of alleged irregularities.

Ukachukwu, a former member of the Federal House of Representatives beat other three contenders to emerge winner of the primary election, having polled One thousand four hundred and fifty five votes, out of the One thousand six hundred and thirty delegates ballots cast during the exercise.

The Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Ewa who served as the Chairman of the Anambra State APC Governorship Primary Election Committee, declared the results.

Dramatically, three top contenders – Paul Chukwuma, Professor Obiora Okonkwo, and Chukwuma Umeoji, pulled out from the race before the exercise rolled off, citing what they claimed were process irregularities and favouritism.

In a speech after emerging victorious, Nicholas Ukachukwu commended the peaceful conduct of the primary election and thanked the Party for the opportunity given to him to fly its flag for the November 8, 2025 governorship poll.

He assures not to disappoint APC and the people of Anambra State at the main electoral contest.

The APC primary election which lasted till the early hours of Sunday morning at the Dora Akuyili Women Development centre, Awka witnessed several moments of heightened security tensions, though no serious incident was recorded due to the massive presence of security agents within and around the vicinity.

A rundown of the Anambra State APC governorship primary election results show that; Nicholas Ukachukwu scored 1,455O votes to beat his closest rival Valentine Ozigbo who polled 67 votes, while Johnbosco Onukwo had 26 ballots, and Edozie Mmadu scored 8 votes.
