Nigeria’s former President, Goodluck Jonathan wants religious bodies to encourage government to create more health centres across the country, to mitigate health related deaths and help Nigeria to meet UNICEF’S SDG 3, of Global Health Coverage by 2030.

The former President gave the advice at the opening event of the maiden edition of the 3-day Anglican National Health Summit in Abuja on Thursday.

Speaking on the theme: “Health Prosperity in the decade of God’s reign”, the Primate, Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Most RV. Dr. Henry C. Ndukaubu described the Church as a healing ministry, hence it must be at the vanguard of the Nigeria’s healthcare delivery and programmes.

Nigeria’s former President, Goodluck Jonathan in a message to the Summit, said that his administration signed the Health Act 2014 into law which coincides with the UNICEF’S SDG 3, of Global Health Coverage 2030.

Other resource persons advised the Church to be mindful of emerging challenges in Nigeria’s health sector and suggested that solutions be offered to governments for the good of the citizens.

The Summit also featured sessions for songs of praises and prayers to God for divine blessings to the Nigerian people and guidance for the political leaders, as they strive daily to make Nigeria greater.
