The immediate past Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Ibrahim Wakala, has defected from the opposition All Progressives Congress APC, to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state.
He officially announced the defection in Gusau, the state capital. Wakala says, the rationale behind the move, is to contribute his quota to the efforts of the present administration to tackle insecurity in the state.
The former deputy governor of Zamfara State, Ibrahim Wakala who spent eight years with former Governor Abdullahi Yari’s administration, dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC.
He said, after the 2019 general election in the state, the party did not considered them relevant and did not inform or invite him and others for their activities.

The former deputy governor had been playing advisory role since the assumption of Governor Bello Mohammed’s administration, especially in the fight against insecurity in the state.
Ibrahim Wakala told journalists that he had written to his boss, Abdulaziz Yari, informing him of his resolve to join the PDP.
He explained that he has genuine interest in the security, peace and welfare of the people of the state, which informed his dumping the APC for the PDP
The former deputy governor hinted that Governor Bello Mohammed invited him to work with him to address the current challenges being faced in the state.
