No fewer than 50,000 Tiv farmers in about 13 villages have been displaced from their ancestral homes in Nasarawa State following fresh crisis with herdsmen.
A number of the farmers have fled to nearby communities in Kardoroko and Agyaragu while a few others have taken refuge in Daudu, Guma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor On Conflict Management in Nasarawa State, Moses Utondu, who disclosed blamed the crisis between the farmers and herders is as a result of the anti-open cattle grazing set by the government of Benue State.

He said the conflict is seriously affecting the border communities of Nasarawa and Benue States predominantly occupied by Tiv.
He said the situation is further escalated by the activities of livestock guards who hinder herders from moving around with their cattle in compliance with the Benue State law that requires them to have ranches.
Utondu however assured that the Nasarawa State Government will continue to do all it can to end the communal crisis.
