Two factional chairmen have emerged in the Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State.

The factional chairmen who promised to work for the emergence of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, claimed to have been nominated, in compliance with the provisions of the party’s constitution.

There was a heavy presence of security operatives at the Ekiti State Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday, as two men laid claim to the chairmanship position of the party in the state.

At the party secretariat in Ado Ekiti, some members of the state’s executive council met to swear-in Agboola Alaba as Chairman.

In his acceptance speech, Agboola said he is assuming office as State Chairman of the PDP, to herald a new era.

Meanwhile other party faithfuls have been visiting the residence of a former Deputy Governorship Candidate of Ekiti State, Deji Ogunsakin, to congratulate him on his emergence as the State’s Chairman of the PDP.

Ogunsakin said he has been legally nominated, in conformity with the constitution of the party.

Residents are attributing the defeat recorded by the party in the last governorship election to the incessant crisis in the state’s chapter of the PDP.
