A section of End Bad Governance protesters led by Omoyole Sawore took to the streets of Lagos on Tuesday to condemn the hardship faced by Nigerians due to economic downturn.
The new wave of protest comes on a day the country is commemorating the 64th anniversary of her Independence from the British colonial masters.
The group in their numbers wearing their popular orange caps and bearing placards with various inscriptions matched from Ikeja Underbridge Lagos to the popular Freedom Park at Ojota, about 7km chanting solidarity songs to reflect their mood.
Accompanying the protesters was the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command who led his men on the long walk.

Sowore who spoke to ait.live said there is virtually nothing to celebrate during this 64th Independence Anniversary of Nigeria, but to bring the leadership to account for their actions which had further impoverished the citizens, forcing many families into poverty.
He further called on the authorities to release the remaining End Bad Governance protesters arrested during the August 2024 national protests, as well as those of the End SARS protests still in incarceration since 2022.
